The most common mistakes we make when brewing espresso coffee

Espresso is a drink that can evoke great emotions among coffee lovers. For some people, it is not just coffee, but a real work of art.

To obtain a perfectly prepared espresso, you need the right skills and knowledge. Without them, it is easy to make several significant mistakes that may affect the final taste and aroma of the coffee. In today's article, we will present you the most common mistakes we make when brewing espresso and tell you how to avoid them to enjoy the full flavor and aroma of this unique drink.

  • Suitable grains
  • Good grind
  • The right coffee machine
  • Temperature of water
  • Maintenance

THE RIGHT COFFEE BEANS ARE THE ESSENTIAL

The first step to the perfect espresso is choosing the right coffee beans . Please remember that the coffee must be fresh and have the appropriate moisture content of the beans (at least 10% humidity). Using cheaper coffees or their mixtures may not achieve the desired effect. We recommend using medium roasted beans, which will provide a milder aroma.

APPROPRIATE GRIND GRADATION

The second step is to properly grind the beans. To make espresso, we need beans ground into a fine powder. A burr grinder works best as it allows us to obtain the appropriate grinding thickness.

YOU CAN'T DO IT WITHOUT A GOOD COFFEE

Espresso is a drink that can evoke great emotions among coffee lovers. For some people, it is not just coffee, but a real work of art.

The third key step is choosing the right espresso machine. A good espresso machine gives you greater opportunities to modify coffee parameters and often also has the option of grinding the beans yourself. This allows us to select the appropriate grinding thickness for espresso. Therefore, it is worth choosing this type of coffee machine, or a good coffee machine and a good grinder separately.

TEMPERATURE IS IMPORTANT

The fourth step is to control the water temperature and coffee extraction time. The water temperature should be around 93 degrees Celsius and the extraction time should be around 25 seconds. Controlling these parameters will allow you to obtain the full flavor and aroma of the espresso.

THIS IS NOT A PHARMACY, BUT CLEANLINESS COUNTS

The last but not least important step is to clean the coffee machine after each use. The coffee machine should be cleaned and descaled regularly to prevent contamination and ensure its long life.

Preparing the perfect espresso is an art you can master. By choosing the right coffee beans and grinding them to the right thickness, we are already halfway there. By using an espresso machine, controlling the water temperature and extraction time, you will almost reach the finish line where your wonderful espresso will be waiting for you. By cleaning the machine regularly, you will ensure that your espresso will be perfect every time, and its taste and aroma will delight not only you, but also your guests.
